I'm at a point in life where I don’t need to chase an hourly paycheck to get by. That gives me something most services can't offer, time. Time to slow down, listen, and help without rushing to the next appointment. This is not a high-pressure, billable-by-the-minute kind of service. It's more personal than that. Sometimes it's helping with a device, sometimes it's sharing a coffee and a conversation so someone doesn't feel so alone.
After my wife and I moved to Mesquite, we quickly noticed something simple but important. Many people are older and living far from family, or have family that is busy, distant, and not able to help with the small but frustrating parts of everyday life. Things like setting up a new phone, figuring out FaceTime, connecting a smart TV, or making sense of online accounts can become overwhelming very quickly.
My background is in digital marketing and technology, so I've spent years working with systems, devices, and problem-solving in the digital world. But I've also learned that most people don't need technical expertise delivered at them. They need patience, clarity, and someone willing to sit beside them until things make sense.
A number of years ago, a close friend's mother, someone I've known for a long time, asked me to help her with a new iPad. At first, it was simple enough over the phone. But as time went on and her needs became more complex, things like managing passwords, accessing accounts, and handling online services, it became clear that phone support wasn't enough anymore.
When her husband, who had always handled the finances and day-to-day systems, developed dementia, she suddenly had to manage everything on her own. Not only was it overwhelming, but she didn't have someone nearby she trusted to sit with her and help step by step. A repair shop could fix a device, but they couldn't sit with her at the kitchen table and calmly walk through real life tasks. That's what she needed most.
That experience stayed with me. There are many people in the same situation, capable and intelligent, but simply trying to navigate a digital world that moves too fast and assumes too much.
I don’t replace professional repair technicians or handyman services. If something is broken, they are the right call. What I offer is something different. I help with basic everyday technology, provide patient, no-pressure support, and stay calm when things feel complicated or overwhelming. I can also accompany you during service visits if you'd like an extra set of eyes and ears, to help ask questions, understand what's being said, or serve as a sounding board so you feel more confident and not taken advantage of. And sometimes, it's just about having a friendly conversation so the day feels a little less isolated.
